Release Date: May 19, 2008 The Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) International released its May 2008 Briefing Note on the "Opportunities for Integrating Ecological Restoration & Biological Conservation within the Ecosystem Approach" at the Convention on Biological Diversity’s Ninth Conference of the Parties held in Bonn, Germany, May 19-30, 2008 The SER Briefing Note states that the Ecosystem Approach, as developed by the CBD and others, provides us with a comprehensive framework where ecological restoration and biological conservation represent key support beams. The Briefing Note calls attention to the complementary roles of ecological restoration and biological conservation, and their potential for integration within a unified ecosystem approach. Ecological Restoration: A Global Strategy for Mitigating Cilmate Change Release Date: August 6, 2007 The Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) International issued a position statement on global climate change during its recent joint conference with the Ecological Society of America (ESA). The position statement calls attention to the vital role played by terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems in supporting humanity, and the need to protect and restore these habitats in order to mitigate global climate change and its effects.  CSU Professor Receives SER International Award Release Date: August 18, 2007 Edward Redente, Emeritus Professor of Restoration Ecology at the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University, has been presented with the prestigious Theodore M. Sperry Award by the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER) International. The award recognizes achievement in elements and approaches that improve restoration programs.
